Description

This breed is no longer used or sold, and no more will be made. If you seriously want an awesome horse made of glass I'd recommend Nuklear-Bunnies's Italian Glass horses.

I made a species/breed! :dummy:
PLEASE READ THIS! I'd really appreciate it if you read through, comment and maybe favorite and even make one!
I will now break down the name:
Spanish: i based the breed's entire build on Spanish horses, specifically Andalusians. THANKS FOR EXISTING ANDALUSIANS
Glass: You'd think it'd be obvious. Glass Kelpies are see through!
Kelpie: The Spanish Glass Kelpie (SGK) is a relative of the 'mythological' (not in this case XD) kelpie. Kelpies are most commonly described as horses who live in the water. They lure people into the water, encouraging them to ride, and then pull them underwater and devour them. My breed is not as vicious. :XD:

Spanish Glass Kelpies originate in Spain, of course. It is not currently known how they got their... color, but their less vicious nature and different build is the result of breeding between kelpies and Spanish horses in the wild.

COLORS AND CROSSBREEDING
---------------------------------------
*All SGKs have 3 markings total, and 3 special colors total. One color is from the eyes, one is from the mane and tail, and one is from the hooves.* SGKs can be cross-bred with regular horses; the usual outcome is a paint horse with the white markings being 'glass.' Most SGKs are just plain white with their markings, but there is a rare 'Stained Glass' mutation that causes a colorful SGK. Another mutation, the 'Shattered' mutation, causes darker lines all over the horse that give the appearance of shattered glass. An albino SGK lacks markings and has pink hooves, pink eyes and a pink mane. An albino SGK is not common but it's not utterly rare either. **In extremely rare cases an albino SGK will have the stained glass mutation. This causes multicolored hair, eyes and hooves, and solid, non-translucent markings on the horse's body.
**SGKs can be crossed with zebras to create a translucent zebra. It's got the same markings as a zebra but it's translucent, like an SGK. These are known as Glass Zelpies or Zelpies.

*On the example- The markings on the face mimic the eye color, while the hard to see brindling on the legs matches the tail, and the hooves produce the color for the dapples on the rump.
**If there is enough interest in this breed I will sell some of these for points!

DIET, TEMPERMENT AND SHOW CAREER
--------------------------------------------------
Spanish Glass Kelpies are omnivorous. Most individuals have a preference between plants or meat. If they are not trained from a young age or handled by an experienced professional they may attack humans! Younger, untrained kelpies should NOT be trusted around small children. Note that some SGKs have plant-chomping teeth, others have flesh-ripping fangs, and some have a mix of the two.

SGKS other traits of glass; they're rather fragile and should not be used for pulling carriages or carts, whether in dressage or for actual use. Don't think this means they can't hurt- SGKs have a bone shattering bite and a wicked kick. Most SGKS have a special gait- they will put their hooves in a straight line. It achieves the same affect as the notorious gait of the Paso Fino- very close hoofsteps and a smooth ride, covering little ground. Their hoofsteps sound like glass. They make beautiful dressage horses, but can be used for jumping and racing as well.

They're agile and very fast. If you can find a water horse sport, this is their element! Another bonus is that SGKs love to be bathed. They're known for their silky-soft hair. It's very easy to tell if your SGK is dirty, because it looks like floating dirt. If they are to be put to pasture at night it is highly recommended you give them a neon, glow-in-the-dark halter so you can see them.
-----------------------------------------------------
The Spanish Glass Kelpie is a FREE BREED! You CAN make your own and I encourage it! However, talk to me before making anything too rare as I might want to charge points for that. I'll also be making draw to adopts!
If I see some interest in this breed, I'll make a group for it when I get my premium membership :) That will be in 11-13 days! Go people! (My bday's on the 5th. I may not get my premium till after that.) Also, I'll be looking for an experienced horser (that's a word) to help me with the group. I'd like some assistance with horse genes/inventing genes for these guys and their mutations. And some help making more mutations! Stuff that involves glass! ;3

I'm sorry, but this is way too similar to my breed, :iconitalian-glass-horse: please change is in a way, making them clearly different to mine or take them down.
